9 Ajakan untuk Remaja, “Yuk Ber-Internet yang Sehat”

Salam Internet Sehat!

(Kompas)

Liger

The liger, is a hybrid cross between a male lion and a female tiger. A liger resembles a tiger with diffused stripes. They are the largest cats in the world, although the Siberian Tiger is the largest "pure" bred animal. Ligers and tigers enjoy swimming, whereas lions do not. A similar hybrid, the offspring of a male tiger and a female lion is called a tigon.Rare reports have been made of tigresses mating with lions in the wild. Such mating may have occurred when, in uncommon circumstances, tigers were forced into ranges inhabited by the Asiatic Lion, Panthera leo persica. However, since the present-day ranges of wild lions and tigers no longer overlap, it is generally held that such a combination of species would occur very rarely.Jungle Island in Miami is home to a liger named Hercules, the largest non-obese liger, said to weigh over 1,100 lbs, over twice the size of a male lion. Hercules was also featured on the Today Show, Good Morning America, Anderson Cooper 360, Inside Edition and in a Maxim magazine article in 2005, when he was only 3 years old and already weighed 408.25 kg (900 lb) at the time. The liger is the largest animal in the cat family and Hercules was in the Book of World Records as the largest cat. Hercules seems completely healthy and is expected to live a long life. The cat's breeding is said to have been a complete accident. Sinbad, another Liger, was shown on the National Geographic Channel. Sinbad was reported to have the exact weight of Hercules.

Jonas's Diary From The Book: "The Giver"

First Day as a Receiver

The first day as a receiver, I received the memories about snow. I receive the memory from an old man in the annex. Before I receive the memory, I must learn all the rules from the Book of Rules. The first time I learn, I can’t describe the comparison. I began to learn the coldness of cold air and snowflakes. After I received the memory, I learned another memory about sunshine and sunburn. That memory was also painful and it was not very pleasant to have, but it’s an honor to receive the memory. I was confused to call what the old man that gives me the memories. I asked him and he said to call me “The Giver”.

Second Day as a Receiver

The second day as a receiver, I learned that it’s not really hard to obey the rules, because my family didn’t question me much, and I think they are too busy describing each of their assignments. Back to the annex, I met The Giver, and he transferred me the memories about colors, and I began to see the different colors in my daily life. For example, I saw the color red for an apple, and I also saw that Fiona’s hair was red too. I was mad and confused why can’t other people knows all of these memories. I was mad because people can’t make choices and it’s all sameness in life. It’s not fair. The Giver told me that being a Receiver is not an easy thing to do. I can’t tell what I learned to other people, even my spouse in the future. Besides the memories of colors, The Giver gave me the memories about strong pain, so that I can bear some of The Giver’s pain for him.

Third Day as a Receiver

On the third day as receiver, I again had given the memory riding a sled. The difference was now I know the pain when I broke my leg when riding a sled.
The memory was so painful, so The Giver said sorry that he had to gave that memory, but it was he’s job to give that memory, and I went home. When Gbriel can’t sleep, and I was so sad, I desperately transfer the memory of silent, and she felt asslep.

The Friendship Trip

Over these years, finally our school held it's first ever overnight camp for both, seniors and juniors at once. We were overwhelmed when we all found out about this trip. We were all going to a special place called Bumi Mandiri Centre in Padepokan, Sukabumi. There were many activities that thought about leadership; Ring Toss, Fish Catching, Flying Fox, The Elvis Bridge, The V-Bridge, Campfire and many more exciting events. We got to see the village houses and the people who lived there. A river near those houses provided a water source for them. Since the theme was friendship, so the main purpose of this trip beside leadership was working together and become one as a team.

We arrive there, with smiles on our faces and a feeling of curiosity. The event finally started, everyone was getting pumped up. We were separated into a few groups. And in each group, was chosen a leader to lead the team all the way through. The leader held the group together to find out strategies on solving the problems and challenges that were given there. Everyone had their parts in the group and every little thing counts. Even though each event for each team was the same, they were not being held at the same time. But we all had fun and had a great time.

We started out with an introduction. The instructors introduced themselves to us. Once we know their names, it's our turn to creat a group and also the yell-yells. Everyone was very creative in deciding their group's names and yell-yells. It was a really fun start.

Later that day played numerous games. But at the time when each group members have to cross the Elvis Bridge, apparently some were afraid of heights. But other members support and encourage those people to try their personal best. Guess what? They did it! Suprisingly those people have overcome their fears and succeded even though not completely. After all the excitement, it's time for us all to go back to our rooms and take a rest.

That night, after the short rest, we had dinner and we all prepared a number of performance for the campfire session. Each group perform a play or song. The teachers did perform a dance and everyone was entertained. We end the night by eating grilled corns and cup of hot tea or ginger water. Then we all laid down in our mats, talking and joking around just right under the stars. The lights were turned on again and the instructor said that we need to take our rest. We went back to our room and go to sleep. We can't wait to see what obstacle and challenges we will face tommorow.

The next day, we all woke up at 5am and we can't believe that this is the last day in this trip. We started our day by going around the village nearby. We saw beautiful paddy fields and the people there starting that day. It was a really good and refreshing walk because, we got to see something that we rarely see in our neighborhood. Kids were running around the streets with their mother and father preparing to go to work. It was quite exhausting. We move to our next activity wich is catching fishes. Everyone was hipped up. When we got to the pool, evryone start running around trying to catch a fish. Some girls were screaming but the boys, well they run oraound trying to steal the fish their friend have captured. Waters splats everywhere and laughs and whines were filling the air. Every group captured at least one fish. This activity is finally done. Next up, River Journey! We went on to our next and last activity, right after we finished catching fishes. It was one of the most memorable activity that day. Students were pulling their teachers in to the river and splatting them with water. Some were, busy splatting, some were just sitting on the side. But we had a lot of fun.

After all the activities that day, we have to fill our stomach up and eat. The food provided was delicious. Everyone ate a lot and when we're done eating, the closing ceremony starts. Here, the instructor announced the name of the students who has done a good job. Well, everyone did a good job though. Prayer comes after the award ceremony and we went back to our room, take a bath and went home.

Since this is the first trip, we were very excited. Everyone went home with a big smile on their faces Hopefuly, some other time, we would hold another camping trip for senior and juniors again!
