We celebrated Independenceday at PSKD Mandiri

August 15 was the right time for us to celebrated Indonesian Independence day. Two weeks before the day, all classes decorated their classes as theme they got, for example grade 7 they got Sumatra Barat, grade 8 decorated with Bali, Papua was the theme for grade 9. For senior classes, they chose Aceh (grade 10) and Dayak for grade 11 and 12.

All students and teachers were so enthusiastic not because this was kind of a competition. But they were happy to have this yearly activity.

Back to the celebration. August 15, we started with raising the flag by senior students who already prepared as "Paskibraka". Actually this was a normal assembly, what make us different today was the costume. All students from early childhood to grade 12 were wearing traditional costume. While all teachers a wearing red and white and staff wearing Kebaya. They were so wonderful.... We saw Unity and Difersity in our school.

After the "Paskibraka" had finished raising the flag, we had a traditional costume show coordinating by Bu Anne and Pak Budi. Every class sent their representatives to do like a 'fashion show' but in traditional costume. Some parents and Ibu Laurel who joined the assembly looked so happy to see some students walked in the 'cat walk' while showing their costume.

Not only traditional costume show, some classes also performed volk songs, angklung perfomance, and presentation from grade 7.

Rindra, Thalia and Odelia was presenting about Indonesian Proclamation.

Our celebration not finished with some traditional performances. We changed our traditional costume and then..... we had some games.. We played soccer dangdut, catching eel, sack race, eating cracker and collecting coins from watermelon.

Go Billy... you can do it!

Go girl...

Pradnya and her team got many eels.. Well done girl.

Miss Tanya was competing with Jennifer in a sack race.

Pak Budi raced with his students..

We were happy. We had so much fun in celebrating Independence Day.
